Customer Loyalty Programs as Employee Rewards and Incentives Plans

(Via: WSJ Online)

Would the same rewards programs that companies implement for their loyal customers work well with their employees? Some companies have an established loyalty program for their clientele but what if they apply that same concept of rewarding allegiance for maintaining their employees and making them happy?

One advice is the increase intrinsic rewards and to decrease extrinsic ones. You can relate this concept to your employees. Say you have a sales team who needs an incentive to travel in order to increase sales numbers; get a personalized passport case for each sales person, promotional luggage or luggage tags, or even travel picture frames to hold their family photos while they are travelling. These products would be great travel items to use as incentives.

Creating a system that reflects an effective loyalty plan would be quite useful when making your employee rewards and incentive plan.

Healthy Choice Incentive

(Via: Dimension of Wellness)

Incentives are a great way to reinforce internal promotions and to build employee relations. If you need help promoting health and wellness amongst your employees for the New Year, think about establishing a creative and effective incentive program.

If you want to encourage your employees to make healthier choices, you encourage them to establish fitness and health groups amongst themselves or you can promote your company’s wellness program.

You can create a custom guide or personalized books to healthy eating that features great recipes and a list of healthy restaurants located in the major markets that your corporate offices exist, which gives your employees a tangible alternative to unhealthy food choices. You could even sponsor a Biggest Loser Weight Loss Challenge at the workplace (i.e. department vs. department, executives vs. mid-managers etc.)

The health and clarity of your employees affects their productivity so promote health through incentives and support your employees so they can make healthier choices.

Employee Reward Term: Morale

Morale: n. how somebody feels emotionally; the general level of confidence or optimism felt by a person or group of people, especially as it affects discipline and motivation—Encarta Dictionary

Think there is no room for employee rewards and incentives in the corporate budget. Well, morale affects the retention rate and employee output directly. Employees are the nucleus to your company’s existence therefore making efforts to improve employee morale by keeping them enthusiastic, motivated, and inspired is a great way of maintaining the health and continuance of your business internally. Employees that are more content with their positions and responsibilities and who are recognized for their ambitious achievements are less likely to call out sick often and are more likely to be more productive. Keep your employees engaged by having individual pep talks once week or getting their opinions on important decisions like changes to the communication system between higher level managers and subordinates.
